Therapy T.E.N.S. – without pain, life is better

On Sunday, I went to visit my grandmother. The afternoon passed like a flash, we drank coffee, took care of relatives, checked what the weather would be like, and Grandma, as always, also mentioned her problems with the lower back and rheumatism. A year ago, on the recommendation of a personal physiotherapist, she bought a TENS device and, as she says, her pain has been much more bearable since then.

She showed me a device that looked pretty easy to use and said she uses it most often before bed. The complete set was accompanied by a booklet with instructions, where I read that in Slovenia as many as 180,000 people suffer from severe chronic pain, most often pain in the bones and muscles or low back pain as the most common musculoskeletal pain. ” I was horrified by this information, because I think the percentage of people is extremely large, and besides, I would never, even in bad dreams, want something similar to affect me.

Since every fourth inhabitant in Slovenia suffers from pain, we have an additional health problem here, as most people relieve their pain with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, paracetamol and tramadol. However, consuming large amounts of medicines does not bring anything good for our health in the long run. So I warmly welcome Grandma’s decision to start relieving her pain in a natural way with TENS painkiller treatment and thus giving her body at least a chance to recover faster.

What is TENS pain therapy?

TENS (transcutaneous / superficial electrical neurostimulation) is an electric current therapy. TENS pain therapy with electric current modulates or inhibits pain signals in the brain. This affects the faster regeneration of tissue, which is disabled in long-term pain. TENS pain therapy is most often performed by physiotherapists or is part of programs in professional medical salons, but the operation of the TENS device is simple enough that it can be learned by anyone following the instructions and advice. Unfortunately, the device for TENS is still not a right to compulsory health insurance.

Let me list just a few cases in which TENS pain therapy is extremely successful: faster recovery after all sports injuries, help in treating pain in the back, lower back, feet, joint pads, knees, elbows, headaches, muscle strains, bronchial asthma, depression, anxiety, sprains, menstrual cramps, rheumatic pains, herpes zoster, insomnia, toothache, nervousness, Achilles tendonitis, sinusitis and intestinal constipation.

The pain is gone – the test was a success!

I myself have never had a problem with pain. I have to admit, though, that I’ve been a bit lazy in the last year. Probably reduced sports activity is also the reason for the pain that started appearing in my left knee six months ago. About what to do and what is the cause of pain, I consulted a personal doctor in the summer, who advised me to strengthen the muscles and ligaments involved in the movement of the knee joint. With regular exercise, the pain almost disappeared, but here and there the pain still reminds me that the treatment is not over yet. As a result, my knee became a guinea pig, on which I tested the method of use and, above all, the effectiveness of the Tia device from MiaPharma.

The MiaPharma device has 6 active channels and as many as 250 preset programs. I myself used only two channels to treat knee pain, as clearly stated in the enclosed instructions. I attached 4 self-adhesive electrodes to the muscles around my knee, as shown in the picture, and slowly increased the strength to the 3rd-4th level, just high enough that I still felt comfortable with the stimuli.

Comfort during TENS therapy works very well for me.

TENS pain therapy lasted 30 minutes. Meanwhile, I supported my knee with pillows and lay comfortably on the couch reading a book. After 15 minutes, the pain began to subside, and at the end of the treatment, I no longer felt it. I wanted to share my discovery with a “miracle device” with friends.

I used self-adhesive electrodes myself.
Deer skin electrodes are also available, which must be wetted before use due to their conductivity.

Jan, who, due to the nature of his work – lifts heavy things – often has back pain. This time, however, he also had “muscle fiber” in his back muscles due to overload. We used the TENS program, which relieves pain in the muscles and spine. We used all 6 channels and placed 12 electrodes on the left and right sides along the spine (never directly on the bone, but on the muscle next to the bone).

In the pre-prepared TENS program, the therapy was performed for 30 minutes.

Jan described his experience with the TENS device as extremely relaxing, he even fell asleep during the treatment. Tension in the spine and muscles, however, was greatly reduced.

I have to admit that when I first came in contact with the TENS device, I had some doubts about the ease of use. However, the use in the attached booklet is presented very clearly and additionally supported by the necessary pictorial material, so that it can be easily mastered by everyone.

Prevention is better than cure.

I am an advocate of a healthy lifestyle, and the most important thing is regular physical activity (according to the abilities of each individual) and a healthy diet. With movement, we keep the muscles strong and thus prevent overloading of the joints, but also contribute to physical and mental well-being.

It feels good to know that we don’t have to live with severe pain as we can alleviate it very easily in a natural way. TENS pain therapy, which we can perform ourselves in the comfort of our own home and even while driving in a car or airplane, can significantly improve our quality of life.

TENS pain therapy can easily be performed at home.

Let me remind you that the device has a warranty, instructions for use in words and pictures, and full of accessories in the case.
